I’m back from a week in Greece. I chose not to tell you beforehand because of insurance reasons. I had a great time, both relaxing and getting much inspiration for food and drinks. I’m experimenting my way to the perfect frozen strawberry daiquiri and much more.
Being away from technology for week was easier and more refreshing than I’d expected. Getting back to my web habits will likely take some days, but I’ll hopefully throw up some articles and recipes soon. I’m also looking forward to my new iPhone project together with Kristian Hjelle. In his words:
Kristian Hjelle and Thomas Sunde Nielsen (That’s me) = awesome little application. In the meantime, enjoy your tea!
In January i wrote a list of goals for 2010. This is how far I’ve got so far:
1. Blog at least once a week
Check (or at least very close).
2. Find a bigger apartment
Check. Double in size, now living together with my girlfriend.
3. Publish at least one of my projects as a GPL project
Not yet. Will be done.
4. Publish an iPhone app
Check, check, check, check and check.
5. Learn more international recipes and cook more varied and healthier food
Check and ongoing
6. Upload some form of tutorial video on my website (preferably several, maybe even regularly)
Still in the planing stages. Maybe with cohost!
7. Pick up exercising again
Check. Taking walks and going to the gym.
8. Drink less soda (and generally eat less sugar)
Check, especially on sugars other than soda.
9. Save more money each month
Check. Now saved enough to buy a barbecue grill and go on vacation.
10. Find a tenth item for my list
Not yet.
In short: Things are going great, still stuff left to do.
Too much going on right now
There is just too much going on for me to keep my blog updated. I often doesn’t even have the time to update twitter. Check back around the middle of December, when my exams are done.
Today I have been spending an hour or two trying out different techniques to spread the word about my blog. It will be interesting to see the results tomorrow. I will probably need to spend more time if I want to get on the front page of digg or something, but I just don’t have that kind of time right now.
Therefore the visitor experiment is heading towards something like “how to get most possible visitors with the least amount of extra work”, which is also useful to know, of course.
If you feel like helping, I will just like to inform you that my site is digg-proof, and can take as much traffic as you can trow at it. Feel free to try to prove otherwise
Now I am going out for the night, so surprise me with some amazing numbers, great tweets or just silence in the meantime.

Experiment
This article is the announcement of a spontaneously started experiment. I will in the following month try to get as many visitors to my blog as possible. If it succeeds, I will post my techniques and results. All the techniques will be fast and easy to adopt, since I can’t spend much time on my blog for the time being.
Stage 1: Spread the word
Part 1 relies on you. Please spread the word of my blog and my experiment as you read this. Use the buttons below if you want to share this experiment post. I will update on the experiment as we go along, and all the posts will be tagged with visitor experiment.
Stage 2: Check in regularly
If you use twitter, please follow @thomassnielsen. If you use an RSS reader, follow my RSS feed (or chose a feed based only on category or tag).
