So who is this Thomas Sunde Nielsen guy?

22 years old and just getting started in the world, I am a tech enthusiast with a passion for discovering, using and developing tech and a willingness to listen and learn.

I love learning new stuff. I believe learning is one of the most important things to do, whatever skill level you are on.

My story

code Me Getting my first computer at age 3, I was destined to be a tech geek from early on. Me and my friends wrote DOS commands as soon as we learned to write, and long before we learnt English.

My first website was uploaded by modem and later maintained my ISDN. We were among the first houses to get ADSL in the area, and we were always early with the latest gear.

I spent much of my first earned money building and upgrading computers. I was early on to Linux, experimenting with Debian before settling on the first edition of Ubuntu as my first full replacement for Windows.

Even in school I wouldn't stay away from the keyboard, as I was one of the first to use a laptop throughout secondary school and college.

I've got a craft certificate in IT and have completed two years as an IT apprentice. During this time I learned about everything from support to server maintenance and software deployment.

Now I'm three years along in the Mac world, and have just bought my second Mac laptop. As one would expect, I'm really happy with my 15" MacBook Pro. I still keep up with the latest in Windows and Linux, though, through my servers and work computers.

Development

I currently focus most of my tech-time on web and iPhone development. I've been developing websites for years now, and write html like English (and Norwegian). CSS and javascript are also among my main skills.

I've got a lot of experience developing CSS based on photoshop design and have ported other languages to javascript as well as written javascript apps from scratch. I am quite fluent in Objective C too. I'd love to learn more languages and techniques too, like java and C.

Current work

I'm currently working as an IT manager for Bergen district court. I'm responsible for all tech in the court, and my years of experience in the field come in handy almost every day. You can read more about this in the IT section.
